For a few months we made a road trip from north to south all across Portugal. Of course, we saw all sorts of beautiful places: knightly castles, wild beaches, nature parks rich in species, lively cities, dreamy villages, steep cliffs and much more. We’ll tell you which 30 towns we liked the most and which city we can’t stop raving about.
Alright, alright, we have to admit one thing: (so far) we haven’t been on the Portuguese islands (yet) – neither in the Azores nor in Madeira. Sure enough they are supposed to be really beautiful. For example, the island of Madeira, with its laurel forest, is home to Portugal’s only natural heritage site selected by UNESCO. And the archipelago of the Azores has even been listed twice by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site: for the first time in 1983, when the center of the city of Angra do Heroísmo on the island of Terceira was recognized as a World Heritage Site. In 2004, the registration of the viticultural culture landscape of the island of Pico followed.
These are our 30 most beautiful places in Portugal

Our all-time favorite city in Portugal
This city took our hearts by storm: Porto. Less crowded and touristy than the big sister Lisbon, Porto is by no means less beautiful – quite the contrary, in our opinion! But see and read for yourself:
